Truffle Festival Package

The perfect weekend – both Saturday and Sunday – for those who long to enjoy truffle in every shape and form. Saturday offers interesting seminars to whet the appetite, an atmospheric ceremony at the Cathedral, a fantastic six-course gourmet banquet with truffle in every dish and an accompanying wine match package. On Sunday we’ll set off on a truffle hunt with trained truffle dogs.

Saturday begins at 11 a.m. with interesting lectures led by Christina Wedén, our very own Doctor of Philosophy in trufficulture. Christina will introduce the seminar with a short description of trufficulture on Gotland and its neighbouring countries, focusing on development over the past year. Christina Wedén is also the moderator for the seminar. More lecturers will be presented later this year.

4.30 pm we reassemble at Visby Cathedral for an atmospheric Truffle Ceremony, which includes the official proclamation of this year’s Truffle Chef and beautiful choir song. After the ceremony, we will walk down to the glass-domed foyer at the Clarion Hotel Wisby where we will be shown Covid safe stations where we can enjoy an apéritif and our first course. This will be followed by a five-course truffle-themed gourmet banquet with accompanying wine matches in the Hall of Mirrors. The food will be prepared by the elite among chefs associated with the organisation ‘Kulinariska Gotland’ (Culinary Gotland). The chefs from ‘Kulinariska Gotland’ will explain the exciting truffle dishes as they are served.

Dress at the ceremony and banquet: Dinner jacket or dark suit.

On Sunday morning, we’ll make our way to truffle grounds and try our hands at truffle hunting. You will have the opportunity to join an experienced truffle hunter in grounds near Roma, Ljugarn, Klinte or Rute. The truffle hunts will take place at the following venues and times:
