Truffle has often been called the black gold of the forest. Truffle can be found in Gotland’s beautiful oak and hazel tracts. During the truffle month, you will get the opportunity to join an experienced truffle hunter in the grounds in Rone, near Roma, Hajdes or in Etelhem. You will learn about truffle in the ground, truffle in cooking and how truffle dogs work. It is fascinating to watch the dogs at work. Different truffles have slightly different aromas. During the hunt you will be able to smell the truffles as they are pulled free from beneath the ground surface. Each truffle hunter has his or her opinion as to how truffles should be used in cooking. During the hunt, participants and hunters often discuss how to get the best out of truffles and their taste in cooking.
Experienced truffle hunters and trained truffle dogs will be on hand throughout the truffle hunt.
Clothing: Warm, comfortable clothes and waterproof shoes or boots.

Änggårde Saloon Rone kl 11 – 12.30 am. Meeting point at Änggårde Saloon and Bed & Breakfast. From Visby – Take route 142 to Hemse. In Hemse turn left towards Ronehamn väg 527. After 8.3 km turn left. After 1.1 km turn right. After 1.1 km, Änggårde Saloon is on the left. Enter the address Rone Änggårde 921, 623 47 Hemse in your GPS
Lövsta, Roma kl 12 – 13.30 a.m. Car drivers should drive along road no. 143 towards Roma. Turn left into Gotland Grönt Centrum along the tree-lined approach. The meeting point is at the car park in front of the Restaurant Roma Gårdskrog.
Klinte church at 12.00 – 1.30 p.m. Meeting point at Klinte church. Meeting point at parking lot to the left of Klinte church, Klintehamn.
Bus no 10 from Visby busstation. Bus ticket not included. .
Etelhem See time above. There are different times on different dates. Gather at Etelhem Church in Etelhem.
Own car: Take road 143 from Visby to Sjonhem hill. Turn right and continue about 18 km to the exit for Etelhem church.
Bus: Take bus 11 from Visby.
The price of a truffle hunt is 595 SEK.
